Waitata Bay

Waitata Bay, this is the lovely view from the balcony of the home we rented.
There are some lovely waterfalls behind the house, just gentle cascades that tinkle attractively in the evening while your enjoying your glass of wine on the balcony.

My World for this week.

Waitata bay Pelorus Sounds
. quite a remote bay, but there is road access though it is a long drive.
However its is a very worth while drive if fishing is what you wish to be doing. We just fish from a small dingy and catch a good feed everytime we go out.
The black dots on the ocean are mussel floats where Green lip Mussels are farmed commercially.
Finally a view from the sea of the part of the small farm, and wharf plus the houses.

Rainbow at Vanuatu

Rainbow at Vanuatu.
Sky Watch wonderful skies from around the world.

This rainbow was spotted from the 5th floor of Sebal Hotel in Port Vila Vanuatu.
I guess I know which yacht has the pot of gold in it!
It was a misty but still hot day.
We were in Vanuatu on a wonderful holiday a couple of years ago and shall be there again this year.

The three Bears.

My World meme for this week.
Be sure to check out all the other interesting places around the World.

The three Bears.
These three carved bears are outside a newly opened cafe at Renwick. The carver, a local man who while traveling in Canada chanced to come upon a bear that stood up like this on the side of the road, he was so impressed that since then he has carved dozens of these from tree trunks. All around the grounds of this cafe are many more carved animals and birds to amuse the children.
Almost my whole family called in for a family afternoon tea out, and had a great and noisy time catching up with everyone, after we had admired the carvings..
There are no bears of any kind in New Zealand except within zoos.

Autumn in the Marlborough Vineyards

Almost the whole Wairau Plains of Marlborough are covered in, from the blue mountains to the golden mountains on the other side Grape vines, in Autumn when the leaves all turn golden or red it is very beautiful. It is especially beautiful when flying in or out of the district. I enjoy the vista as I drive around in the taxi and I take a few photos, but not many because the whole plain is so flat there are few vantage points where you can get a great veiw of them. The grapes have all been harvested now and are being turned slowly in great wine.

Thats My World for this week, do check out all the other wonderful postings from around the world.

Mother's Day

Even though my dear Daughter and Son-in-law are away holidaying in Thailand, half a world away, they still remembered me on Mother's Day and arranged for these three lovely pink Hyacinths to be delivered. I was so thrilled and surprised. They will look lovely for a long time, many years maybe if I look after those big bulbs really well.
Isn't she sweet.
My poor Mother only got chocolates, but her very favourite cherry liquor chocolates so she was also happy.

Statue at Blenheim Airport.

Statues don't come much uglier than this one!
The statue, at Blenheim's Airport, is to commemorate the supposed first person to make wine in Marlborough, but there is much dispute about this among the wine industry.
The man was David Herd who was making wine in 1870 and has a photo to prove it, this statue is modeled from his photo, but it scares passengers who arrive at Blenheim's Airport with his fierce glare.. I think they imagine him throwing his wine jug at them! But he hasn't as yet.
It has taken a century, but Marlborough is now the major wine producing area of New Zealand. Mr Herds vineyard is no more!
In the background you can see two small air craft are called Beeches, they fly between Wellington and Blenheim mainly.

This is My World for this week, check out hundreds of other posts from around the world.

Winter Sunset Grovetown

Winter Sunset through the Poplars at Grovetown, taken last year. Sadly these lovely trees have been chopped down in the name of progress, to make building sites.
Unfortunately the power wires do detract from the shot.
