Happy Mother's Day, Glennis! Well, I just had to click on this unusual flower and enlarge it. Wow, it's beautiful!! The very pale creamy green petals, then the center! It looks like a lily, and a rare one at that. I've never seen anything like it. Is it in your yard? It would truly be a perfect Mother's Day flower. You will see that I have signed on to follow you. Re your comment on The Villages: these are golf carts. The Villages is a golf cart community (as is Stone Creek where we live) which means there are paths for golf carts throughout and within the community you can drive golf carts on the streets. Almost everyone has a golf cart and some spend many thousands of dollars customizing them. It gets rather silly with lots of competition. But some of these carts cost $30,000 USD or more!
Well, I see now where you say you grew these orchids. Did you just add that comment? Maybe I missed it earlier. I'm impressed. I thought orchids were very hard to grow. You must have a really green thumb. Do you keep them indoors? I have been to two orchid shows, and will post them sometime, but these are about the prettiest I've seen!
Hi I did add the line about growing the orchids myself, later in answer to peoples comments.
I grew them about 4 years ago, although I still have the plant it hasn't flowered since, but this year it will have a couple of sprays of blooms if I can protect them from the harshest weather. At our previous home we had a lovely protected indoor garden where orchids grew beautifully. Now we have moved and they must live outdoors, not so easy. But there are lots of buds on all the plants so I am hopeful of a good crop of flowers, as i am growing them under some trees. They are kind of hard to grow, in that you must have conditions right for them. I repotted all of them last year in bark and compost and feed them regularly, thats about all I do. There must be about 15 plants in my collection now. people give them to me and I get some from garage sales.
Give them a go.
